چکیده

Multiclass CDMA systems, which support multiple services with various quality of service (QoS) requirements, are studied. The focus is on the reverse link capacity and application of macrodiversity with maximal ratio combining (MMRC), where the signals from each mobile station (MS) are received by multiple base stations (BSs) and coherently combined. A simple analytical solution is first derived for the multiclass reverse link carrier-tointerference ratio (CIR). Using this CIR solution, a simple capacity analysis is developed in terms of the QoS requirements. Finally, the analysis is fully supported by simulation results.

The capacity region of 3G CDMA systems with macrodiversity and power constraints

Under macro-diversity, the cellular structure is removed and each transmitter is jointly decoded by all “receivers” (base stations, or antennas in a single cell). This scheme has been shown to increase the capacity of CDMA wireless networks. However, the available macrodiversity capacity results rely on a “self-interference” approximation, which may not be appropriate in CDMA system in which th...

A comparative study of the effects of microdiversity and macrodiversity on CDMA forward-link capacity

Abstrucr-Both microdiversity and macrodiversity can effectively overcome the harmful effect of fading. Most of previous work focused on their benefits to the reverse link in CDMA systems. However, their effects on the forward link are less well understood. In this paper, we present an analytical model on forward-link capacity in an H-port macrodiversity system with power control. Maximum Ratio ...

Macrodiversity power control in hierarchical CDMA cellular systems

Hierarchical code division multiple access (CDMA) cellular systems, consisting of macrocells with underlying microcells, are studied. We seek power control schemes which will allow both hierarchical layers to share the same spectrum. For the reverse link, hierarchical maximal ratio combining (HMRC) is applied where each mobile station (MS) is received and coherently combined by base stations (B...

Effect of macrodiversity on CDMA forward-link capacity

Abstract:Macrodiversity is an effective means to overcome large-scale fading effects. Much of previous work focused on its benefits to the reverse link in CDMA systems. However, its effect on the forward link is less well understood. In this paper, we analyze the CDMA forward-link capacity with macrodiversity and the results show that macrodiversity causes forward-link capacity loss whatever po...
